we have arrived

it's 1:43am and all 14 of us are on a bus headed to our hotel. The trip included two 3 hour layovers in Denver and then Houston. So far the journey has been uneventful and I have had the opportunity to get to know most of my team. Many walks of life and age groups. I am not the oldest but I'm not too far from the top of that list. Some have been on multiple STM (Short Term Missions) trips and some this is their first. It was a little difficult for me as I only casually knew 2 of the team and more than once I thought to myself..."What are you doing???" The other thought was that since I retired in 2020, Cindi and I have basically done everything together and maybe been apart for 1-2 nights. But sitting on the plane listening to one of the team behind me leading his row mate to give her life to the Lord. Wow.. I know this will be a stretch for me and definitely out of my comfort zone,  but I know it is God calling me to a new thing. Yesterday as I was packing and thinking of heading out without my usual and familiar companions, God really impressed on me... 'You aren't alone, I am your buddy..." So here we go on an adventure together... God and me. That's enough.

Tomorrow will be morning service and in the afternoon out in small groups with an interpreter talking to people. here we go... lights out 2:38am
